Cruz gets AmTryke

Cruz got a therapeutic trike today at Maxx Federal Credit Union by donations to the Montgomery Area Friends of Ambucs. They provide bikes and trikes to kids with disabilities. He loves riding the trikes at therapy, so I know he will love it at home too. It makes therapy fun which is what you have to do with kids.

This picture was taken in May 2008 at Alan and Rachel's house.

First Prosthetic

Cruz got his first prosthetic in February 2008 at Shriner's Hospital in Greenville, SC. He hated it a first, but after a few weeks he got used to it.

Cruz on the walker

This picture is from December 2007. Cruz is working with a PT from Early Childhood Intervention. She comes to the house a couple times a month.

Cruz's amputation

Cruz's leg was amputated above the knee in Guatemala in August 2006. He was 3 weeks old. His foster mother brought him to the doctor because he had "flu like" symptoms. By the time he reached the hospital, he had quit breathing. During lifesaving attempts, he developed a blood clot which eventually led the the need to amputate. We were there with him. He did great!
